Air Video Server HD  2.2.3-beta6 is available.

Changes since 2.2.3-beta5

  • Support for Android based GooleCast devices (Android TV). This required some rather significant changes to transcoding pipeline, so hopefully there won't be any regressions. Fingers crossed
  • Fixed server deadlock when scrubbing on Apple TV

Changes since 2.2.3-beta4

  • Fixed QuickSync related memory leaks

  • Fixed QuickSync decoding of corrupted TV recordings
  • Reduced video artifacts when playing corrupted TV recordings
  • Fixed A/V sync issue with interlaced (60fps) corrupted TV recordings.

Changes since 2.2.3-beta3

  • Found and fixed some more memory leaks
  • Fixed playback of MPEG files with bogus packets at the end
  • Fixed regression where seeking would hang sometimes
  • Fixed playback of some LOAS AAC streams
  • Fixed playback for MP4 files with invalid color table id value
  • Updated Sparkle on OS X (Server now requires OS X 10.7+)

Changes since 2.2.3-beta2

Changes since 2.2.2

  • New caching implementation should significantly improve performance with high latency network drives
  • Important QuickSync fixes
    • Fixed encoding for 60fps files

    • Fixed the No frames found before end of file bug on some files. Note that if you have encountered this you may have to rebuild thumbnail cache after installing the beta

    • More reliable recovery on device failure

  • Fixed missing audio during ChromeCast playback on Nexus and other android based devices

  • Fixed PCM audio playback for some matroska files

  • Better compatibility with Apple TV 4

  • Hardware accelearated transcoding on 12" MacBook

  • General playback improvements

Download for Mac OS X (universal)

More information about hardware acceleration can be found here.

Something I've noticed is that my Apple TV loses connection to my computer when running Beta 6, but after installing Beta 5, no issues. When I wake the Apple TV, it'll see my computer no problem. With Beta 6, after waking up the Apple TV, I need to quit and reopen the server app in order for the Apple TV to see my computer.

I just got a Sony X85C yesterday. I tried it and had problem with the audio.

Now I've installed this beta, when I cast from Air Video HD the picture on the TV only says "ready to cast", which is the standard Air Video HD image for when a file has completed playing. Anyone else have the same issue? I can cast from the YouTube app just fine.

Edit: Now it works! I had to update Google Cast Receiver to the latest version. My TV had 1.15.38401 installed.

newdeepan, there hasn't been any changes related to bonjour in the server update, it's very unlikely that the update itself has caused the behavior change. Do you have any third party firewall or other security software installed?

I did some troubleshooting, turns out I had my internal Intel HD display adapter disabled causing the issue. Once I enabled it back, no issues so far.

Bugs still effecting air video HD

1. Anime videos with flax audio have a minor audio delay effecting 8bit and 10bit files differently

2. Anime Videos with heavy typesetting ( lots of subtitles at any time or fancy subtitles ) cause the video to stop into a infinate loading loop. Disabling Burned in subtitles lets the videos play fine but then you lose the subtitles styling. With Burned in subtitles enabled these videos won't convert either the conversion times keeps on rising forever

If you could look into these it would be appreciated

The subtitles for those files are embedded, seems to be certain typesetting the causes the encoder to just stop, its repeatable aswell on those parts of the video.

These play fine using xysubfilter on my pc to render the subtitles.

ussjtrunks, I was able to reproduce the problem with subtitles, it should be fixed in next server update.

ussjtrunks, I found the files. The reason for A/V sync problem is that there are few invalid flac frames at the beginning of streams, which don't decode properly. The flac decoder didn't handle this right and shifted the timestamps as if the frames have decoded. Should be fixed for the next beta (at least for the files you've provided).

Actually, those buffers may have been header buffers, so they're not corrupted. Just need to be treated differently.
