I'm a brand new user to Air Video HD.  AND I LOVE IT!!  I'm recommending it to all my friends and family.

After years of frustrating struggles with the Apple Videos app and it's "sometimes I work, sometimes I don't" reliability, Air Video HD is a very welcome and feature-rich alternative.

Three questions:

  1. On the server app, is there a way to see what version is installed?  If not, a typical "Help -> About" addition would be nice.

  2. Is there a way to rename the broadcasted name of my server?  Right now, it shows my computer name, but I would prefer to name it something like "Our Family Media Server"

  3. Can Air Video HD show slideshows of folders of JPG, PNG photo files?  It would be great to be able to show photos from my computer too.  I added a folder containing just JPGs (no video files) and it shows up empty when I select it from my device.

I also posted an enhancement request reply to the "Ability to log which user is accessing files" post in this sub-forum.

If I should post these enhancement requests to the "Feature Requests" sub-forum, just let me know and I'll do so.

Thanks,

Sailor Guy

There's currently no way to change server name. I'll think about this.

There is About dialog in server accessible from System Tray icon (Windows) or Menu Bar icon (OS X), which displays server version.

Photos are not supported right now.

Also, latest beta logs additional information when creating playback sessions (user name, account and IP Address)

Thanks for the response.  I had missed the About option on the system tray.

Ditto on being able to change the Server name. That would be a nice to have.

SailorGuy

For photos right now you can use Qloud. It works quite well. It also works for audio.

I use it as a backup as well for videos.
