This is a request for a version of an Air Video HD server application that runs in the QNAP App Center (QPKG).

I store most of my videos on a QNAP 869 NAS and normally watch them on the TV through a Popcorn Hour A-400 media streamer.  When I want to watch them on the iPad or iPhone, I use Air Video HD with the server application running on a laptop.  Most videos are encoded as H.264.

Since the NAS is running 24/7, it would be nice if the server ran on the NAS instead of the laptop, that's not always on.

QNAP has the architecture and application development tools to allow third party developers to build applications that can be installed and run in their App Center. The QNAP x69 series runs an Intel Atom 2.13GHz Dual-core Processor, which should be powerful enough even if conversion was required.

Please consider developing an Air Video HD server for the QNAP NAS.

I think this is a duplicate of this issue

QNAP is a linux based machine.

If the linux version is available, builds for specific linux-distro's will become available.

(QNAP, FreeNAS, maybe even for the stronger Synology-hardware...)

So, I replaced a Windows 2012 server (storage) and Zino (Airvideo and XBMC) with the QNAP 870 Pro today.   This thing is awesome and reduces complications dramatically on the home network.

Apart from one thing.... :)

I sure hope to see a linux version, and specifically a QNAP app!   These devices are becoming more common, even to "Microsoft Heads" like I! :)

Given this Alpha version is available....  is anyone willing to try and build a QPKG for dumb people like I when it comes to Linux?

I had to replace my failing windows home server and I picked up a QNAP TS-451. It's great!

I would love to be able to run Air Video HD on it, then I can shut down my PC when I'm not using it.

So please consider this a +1 for a QNAP (.QPKG) package for Air Video HD.

Thanks,

Hi Admin,

You've been pretty quiet on this topic. Can you give use an idea of if or when this might happen?

Thanks,

RMcV

InMethod aren't quite the devs I assumed they were. I would advise making these suggestions to PentaLoop (makers of PlayerXtreme). They are very interested in new ideas and actively work with the userbase for feature requests. Overall, their application is a league or two ahead of AirVideo in competency and I'm in the process of helping them make their media player as good as AVHD's and then some. If you haven't tried out their barebones free version, you should.

@ admin: I am disappointed that you have not responded to this thread.

I really enjoy your product, even more, since you added Chromecasting.

I have a TS-451 QNAP with 8 Gigs of memory, 2 4 terabyte hard drives, Intel Celeron J1800 SoC (2.41 GHz - 2.58 GHz). I believe this should be enough to support AirVideo HD and (I assume it's needed) VLC.

Please let us know what you're thinking relative to this thread.

I am also disappointed. But I'll put money where my mouth is. I'll pay a developer to do this add on for the qnap. Price it.

@admin Same as nickw, if you want to charge for a QNAP package, let us know the price.

Ignore me!   I typed in the full path /share/Movies and it worked!   THIS IS AWESOME!

I hope some time you get time to code a GUI for it!   Really great work.
