Moved from AV to AVHD yesterday or day before.

Huge improvement.

Updated to AVHD 1.0.7.3 this morning

A few minutes later trying to load the content of an old large movie folder.

And got the "Could not load folder content" message.

Yes, the folder is quite large.

Rebooted both iPad and MBP.

Same problem.

A smaller movie folder will load without issue.

I don't know if AVHD 1.0.7.1 was having the same issue or not.

I don't recall trying to load the same folder.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you ensure your computer can access the folder on its own? I had a similar problem, and was sure it was AV fault, only to discover the folder had become unreadable even through the computer (it was a shortcut that had the source location moved so it was no longer valid).

How big is the list of folders it is trying to load? And is this a network, USB, etc location you are accessing?

Is that a network folder? How many items are there?

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, It is a network folder on a WD myBookLive 2TB network drive plugged directly into my router.

Yes, MacBook Pro can access the folder given enough time.

Windows has been so much better with files n folders since day one.

MacBook Pro Get Info was taking forever to calculate so had to move to a Windows XP machine to get the counts:

The folder I get a timeout on has 1 TB of 52K files and 6.4 k Folders.

The folder that has no issues is 95gb with 10k files and 835 folders.

tia

p.s. just had a flash I should try the HD server on my windows xp machine.

Will report findings.

Hi Barry,

You are saying you get a timeout for the folder? Or does it provide you with an error that says "cannot access folder content" when it loads that folder.
Also have you confirmed that you can access the folder in question from the computer running the server?
Lastly, are all of those folders in the first directory under the one that doesn't load, or is that the total number of files and drives under that folder (including all sub folders, ex. I have a folder that inside contains over 5000 files, and 3tb of data, but the very first level inside the folder only has 10 folders and no actual files)

OK, the folder loads properly on Air Video HD 1.0.7.3 Server on Windows XP.

I'm getting the

Could not load folder content, sorry. :(

Connection Timeout

on Air Video HD 1.0.7.3 Server on MacBook Pro.

The root level/node of the problem folder has 1,574 folders and 74 files.

hth

Sorry I wasn't clear. If you go to your physical MBP, open a finder window on the computer, can you load the folder from there?

I'd think this is a timeout issue. SMB share with 1574 folders on OS X is quite likely to cause problems.

Hi guys,

I am having the same issue.  I upgraded from AV, which I loved, to AVHD.  On AV I had multiple folders and it had no issue what so ever to play and load.  On AVHD it wont even pull up the folders. I have 3 external hard drives attached to my PC but none of them show up.  If I add each folder inside the HD then the content loads.  However, I am not gong to load each individual movie which is more that 1,000. AV didnt have this issue at all I could just add the whole external HD and everything would show up.  What is the issue?

thanks.

Do you get an error message when you try to load the folder? More details would be helpful. Are these network or USB attached?

Do you get a timeout error? Are you able to select the folder but the content is empty?

This should be exactly the other way around... Air Video Server HD has optimized folder loading because of frequent timeout on old Air Video server on windows when browsing SMB shares.

Perhaps some screenshots would help.

Also, which Air Video Server HD version do you have installed?

They are USB attached.. When I click on the specific drive I want to load it says "Could not load folder content, sorry:(" File or folder not found. I have installed AirVideo Server HD 1.0.9.. But again this never happened with AirVideo. And it doesn't matter if its my iPad or iPhone.

Update: I re-downloaded the server again and it is working now I don't know if something got corrupt or what. I had downloaded it a few times with no result but now it works.

Okay, this is something else. I assume this is on Windows? Could you make screenshot of the Air Video HD Preferences and send it to support (at) inmethod.com ? I'll try to reproduce this.
