If you're at home in front of the computer - why do you need an app to watch? Just open the video file on the computer - no?

Yeah playing videos on shares over a slow laggy network connection (like the internet) is not that much fun....

How about instead of Windows / Mac apps, we get a web app. that would be fine to me. I wouldn't even mind setting up my own port forwarding so that In Method didn't have to run a high bandwidth server.

When AirVideo started I have been using it and promoting it to friends but there is this time that I would like just to use my computer away from home and watch on a bigger screen than my iphone.  This would be a great addition.  (from a long time user!)

Agreed. A native Mac / PC client, or failing that a web app, would be excellent.

I often have YouTube videos playing in the corner of my screen while I work, and I have headphones attached to my computer for my job. I want to watch my own video libary though. Having an iPad sat on my desk with it's own audio output is not possible in a quiet office environment nor is wearing two sets of headphones at the same time.

Just adding another +1 for a web/client app.  Being able to put a small player in the corner of one of my monitors while I'm working would be killer.

BUMP.

Mind boggling that this hasn't been addressed yet, either through a web app or native client.

Suggesting we use a shared folder is a total cop out. There's PLENTY of scenarios where that is NOT optimal. eg: streaming from my home mac to a mac at a friends house or at work, remembering playback positions, transcoding, etc.

I've invested money into your suite of apps, bought all the different client versions available (even when most developers let you buy once and use on all iOS). After several years I see no progress on a number of fronts (like having a simple JPG sidecar file for cover art, a list view on Apple TV – really basic stuff).

Seriously considering abandoning Air Video at this point and switch to Plex. :(
