I've noticed that if I shut the lid of iPad Case while watching something the video still plays on, so I have to pause before shutting the lid.   Not sure if this is a feature or by design ?

If you´re streaming to an AppleTV this is perfect, since it consumes very little energy if the screen is off.

You´re right though, if you´re watching on the iPad itself this is a little strange.

My wife would like this implemented as well, as she watches most of her videos on her iPad.

iMac 27-inch (Late 2013) • OS X 10.11.3 (15D21) • Air Video Server HD (2.2.1u1) • Air Video HD (2.1.4)

It's a "feature" of the API that Air Video HD uses to play video. I agree that it's probably useless unless streaming to Apple TV or through the cable.
